Cathay Pacific’s Special Economy Class Offer: Free Upgrade to Business Class on Taiwan-Hong Kong Sector

Cathay Pacific is launching a Special Economy Class promotion from now until January 31, 2013. Passengers who purchase Special Economy Class tickets from Taiwan to Europe, Australia, North America, India, the Middle East, and Johannesburg will be eligible for a complimentary upgrade to Business Class for the Taiwan–Hong Kong sector on both outbound and inbound flights operated by Cathay Pacific or Dragonair.

Currently, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair operate over 190 weekly flights between Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Hong Kong. During the promotion period, passengers traveling in Cathay Pacific’s Special Economy Class can not only enjoy complimentary Business Class seating and meal services on the Taiwan–Hong Kong sector, but also earn 125% of the actual flight miles in Asia Miles for that sector.

Cathay Pacific’s new Special Economy Class will be gradually introduced on Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 747-400, selected Airbus A330-300, and Airbus A340-300 aircraft. By the end of January 2013, the Special Economy Class will be available on 25 destinations within Cathay Pacific’s medium- and long-haul network. The Special Economy Class features 26 to 34 seats, with a seat pitch of approximately 96.5 cm — 15 cm more than in Economy Class. The seats are wider, and the backrest can recline up to 20 cm further. Additionally, the Special Economy Class is equipped with a large main table, a cocktail table, a footrest, a 10.6-inch personal TV screen, power outlets, multi-port connectors, and extra storage space.
