Taiwan Design Week’s Highlights Over the Years – Works by Over 500 Designers Shine at the Flower Expo

Organized by Taiwanese designers, the “Taiwan Design Week” has entered its sixth edition this year. The main exhibition venue is set at the Competition Hall in the Yuanshan area of the Taipei Flower Expo Park, officially running from last week, September 14th, to September 23rd. The exhibition theme is defined as 《FLOW》, symbolizing the Taiwanese designers’ strong desire for unlimited possibilities and new opportunities in future development, as well as the driving force behind the continuous flow of inspiration and creativity (The Power of Forward). This year, over 500 designers’ works, along with 100 design brands and team organizations, are participating. The event mainly includes the “Main Theme Exhibition, Themed Joint Exhibitions, Design Industry Image Exhibition, and Rising Design Stars,” as well as the newly introduced 《Design Film Festival X Urban Nomad》 during Taiwan Design Week. Co-organized by Taiwan Design Week and Urban Nomad, which has ten years of film festival experience, this is Taipei’s first film festival themed around “design.” It will be exclusively screened in the Design Plaza area during the Taiwan Design Week period.

Taiwan Design Week connects ten major themed joint exhibitions, allowing the public to appreciate how domestic designers across various fields interpret their latest works under these ten design themes. This year, the sources of inspiration for the designers are categorized into four aspects: “FLOW – Reflections on Life Phenomena,” “FLOW – Local Cultural Memory,” “FLOW – Environmental Sustainability and Symbiosis,” and “FLOW – Design Principles and Techniques.”

The Design Industry Image Exhibition 3X3 Design Show brings together domestic and international designer teams to showcase their brands, representative products, and latest design works. This year, the exhibition has diversified even more than previous years, covering 12 design fields. These include “Lifestyle Stationery and Daily Design” and “Tableware Design,” which focus on everyday aesthetics and functional living considerations; as well as “Furniture and Home Decor Design,” “Wooden Object Design,” and “Lighting Design,” which center on the atmosphere between people and space. Additionally, emphasizing a marketplace platform featuring “design,” this year there are international creative product designers coming to Taipei for exchanges. The event will be held on weekend afternoons and evenings during Taiwan Design Week at the Long Corridor Plaza next to the Competition Hall in Taipei’s Flower Expo Park.

From now until September 23rd, visitors who present their September tickets for the three halls in the Taipei Flower Expo Park (Dream Hall, Expo Taipei Hall, and Future Hall) can purchase Taiwan Design Week tickets on-site at a discounted price of NT$200 (original price NT$230). Additionally, 10 members of the public can visit Taiwan Design Week for free. Starting now, the first 10 people who present three September tickets for the Dream Hall, Expo Taipei Hall, and Future Hall in the Flower Expo Park’s New North Area can exchange one Taiwan Design Week ticket at the Yuanshan Park Visitor Service Center.
