Guam's biggest celebration unites Micronesian island nations

Guam's largest cultural festival, the "Guam Micronesia Island Fair," will be held from October 5 to 7 at Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park (also known as Ypao Beach Park) in Tumon Bay, Guam. During this three-day event, visitors can experience the local arts and culture of Micronesia firsthand. Admission is free, and Taiwanese participants can also receive beautiful souvenirs.

Located at the southernmost tip of the Mariana Islands, Guam covers an area of 550 square kilometers and is the largest island in the Micronesia region, with a population of about 170,000. Over the past 25 years, this cultural event has gathered island nations from the Micronesia region every year, including the Federated States of Micronesia, Rota Island, Saipan, Tinian, as well as the Republic of Kiribati, Nauru, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Palau. Together, they celebrate the largest cultural carnival in the Micronesia region, featuring a grand display of the unique ethnic cultures of each area.

In addition to cultural performances such as singing, chanting, and dancing, visitors can also get up close to witness the masterful skills of renowned local carvers, blacksmiths, fishing experts, gem artisans, textile weavers, and chefs from Micronesia. Here, you can fully enjoy a diverse range of local handicrafts, carving art, and traditional cuisine. The event offers free admission to all visitors. To encourage participation from Taiwanese people, the Guam Tourism Bureau has specially prepared beautiful souvenirs for Taiwanese attendees.
