The sound of drums amidst surging golden rice waves — U-Theatre shakes up the Chihshang Music Festival

The Chihshang Autumn Harvest Music Festival has entered its fourth year. The event on November 3 (Saturday) from 15:00 to 16:30 will be held on Jinxin Route 3 in Chihshang Township. This location, known for being featured in a coffee commercial, has earned the nickname “Brown Road” (伯朗大道), boasting an unobstructed view with no power poles in sight. The golden rice waves sway gently in the breeze, forming the most distinctive natural stage. This year, U-Theatre has been invited to perform in the most natural, simple, and land-connected way, letting the drumbeats resonate through the golden rice fields as they celebrate and share the genuine strength that originates from this very soil with the audience.

Mountains and land have always been the sources of inspiration and strength for U-Theatre’s creations. They walk to truly feel the connection between life and the land, learn humility and the wisdom of the earth through bending down to sow seeds, and experience the joy and emotion of harvest during reaping. U-Theatre will present several classic masterpieces, including “Great God Drum,” “Gallop,” and “Rock Climb,” allowing people to leave behind external distractions amid the resonating drumbeats and enter a world of natural tranquility, expressing the perfect interaction and dialogue between humans, mountains, and rice fields.

Additionally, a Chihshang Harvest Experience tour has been arranged for the morning of the same day at NT$350 per person, with advance purchase required. Participants will don straw hats, roll up their pants, harvest rice in a traditional manner, thresh grain by foot, enjoy an authentic “rice-harvesting meal” on the field ridges, and after hard work, receive their own hand-harvested “Chihshang Premium Rice,” immersing themselves in the joy of a bountiful harvest.
