Mid-Autumn Festival without barbecue? Kaohsiung Tianliao Music Festival offers free free-range chicken tastings

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, celebration events are kicking off around Taiwan. Located in southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung’s Tianliao Moon World Geopark will alsoSeptember29–30, host a Mid-Autumn music concert featuring performances by artists including Shi Wenbin, Xu Fuke, Fang Ning, and local bands from Kaohsiung. The event will also offer2guided tours across eight sessions on five routes, taking participants to explore unique landscapes such as rock crevices, stalactites, and mud volcanoes. Other activities include free free-range chicken tastings, a local produce carnival, open-air DIY fruit bars, challenge games, and free shuttle buses between Qiaotou MRT Station and the Moon World Geopark.

In addition to free access to Tianliao’s dramatic badlands, the Moon World Mid-Autumn Music Festival’s free cultural and ecological guided tours will include two routes: “Fantasy Journey through Moon World” and “Limestone Milk Exploration Tour.” These will take visitors to sights such as rock crevices, stalactites, the lakeside trail, and mud volcanoes, with guides from the “Moon World Humanities Association” providing commentary. The guided tours are offered twice daily, with a limit of 15 people per session, and can be reserved by phone before September 28 or signed up on-site on the day of the event.

For fringe activities, on the 29th, singer Wu Shumin will serve as the “Free-Range Chicken Ambassador,” and there will be free free-range chicken tastings. There’s also a paid open-air DIY fruit bar using fresh local produce from Tianliao District, and an “Badlands Fashion Culture Show” blending trendy fashion, cosplay concepts, and the otherworldly landscape of the badlands. Throughout the event period, there will also be a local produce carnival, featuring scheduled and limited tastings of specialty farm products, buy-one-get-one-free promotions, and challenge games.
