A new night tour option in Bangkok: Asiatique The Riverfront shopping mall hosts thousands of shops

A few years ago, when Suan Lum Night Market closed, Bangkok lost a place to shop at night markets. But now there’s a new nighttime shopping plaza — Asiatique The Riverfront along the Chao Phraya River. This brand-new nightlife district boasts over 1,500 shops and 40 restaurants from around the world, including bars and beer gardens, quickly becoming a hot attraction after its opening. The Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre, previously located in the downtown night market, had to shut down with the market’s closure but has now found a new home at Asiatique. Asiatique The Riverfront was created from abandoned old port warehouses, which were once a bustling harbor area during the reign of King Rama V, filled with teak trade between Thailand and the West and a diverse mix of people. To revive the old stories, Asiatique The Riverfront is presented with the concept of a “festival market and living museum,” giving new life to long-abandoned warehouses through redesign while retaining their classic architectural features.
 

Asiatique The Riverfront is divided into four themed zones. In the Charoen Krung zone, visitors can shop for souvenirs and home decor, with over 1,000 shops in the entire area. Some sections house the Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre and the Calypso Cabaret ladyboy theatre. The Downtown zone is located at the heart of the project, featuring outdoor activities, international restaurants, bars, and beer gardens. The Factory zone is characterized by a 100-year-old sawmill that has been transformed into a modern-looking space with numerous shops. Located by the Chao Phraya River, the sawmill complex houses over 500 fashion shops. The Riverside zone stretches 300 meters along the Chao Phraya River and offers views of the riverfront. This area focuses on international cuisine, including Japanese, Italian, Thai, Chinese, and seafood.

Asiatique The Riverfront is open daily from 5:00 PM to midnight. It can be reached by road via Charoen Krung Road, with the mall located between Soi Charoen Krung 72 and 76, and parking available for over 2,000 vehicles. Alternatively, take the BTS skytrain to Saphan Taksin Station, then transfer to a Chao Phraya River express boat or the Asiatique shuttle boat service to reach the mall directly.
