The Beef Noodle Festival kicks off with a "buy one get one free" deal at 100 fan-voted top shops

The “2012 Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival” has kicked off. The first “beef” being served is the “Taipei Beef Noodle Legend” promotion. This year, the event invites 15 award-winning shops from past editions to jointly offer a “buy one get one free” deal. Additionally, this year’s judging will differ from previous years—rather than having judges visit the shops directly to taste and evaluate, the selection will be carried out through a vote by 100 people at 100 shops. Participants will taste on-site and vote immediately to choose 15 top shops for braised, clear-broth, and tomato-based beef noodle soups. The selection is expected to take place in late October.

From now until October 15, the public can download a “buy one get one free” coupon from the Taipei City Department of Commerce’s “Taipei Beef Noodle Legend” theme website and present it at participating shops to enjoy the buy one get one free beef noodle offer. A total of 6,000 free bowls of beef noodles will be given away. Additionally, uploading a personal photo taken during your meal to the theme website gives you a chance to win one of 15 free beef noodle meal vouchers, with a total of 10 prizes up for grabs.

The grand finale will be the “2012 Taipei International Beef Noodle Culinary Chef King Competition” held on December 1–2 at the Hua Mark Yuan Shan Park. The competition is divided into three categories: “Braised,” “Clear Broth,” and “Creative Rice Dishes.” Entries are now open for shops.
