The upcoming 4th New Taipei City International Environmental Art Festival will take place in the Tamsui area from October 13 to 21, featuring events such as an art parade, environmental theater, and international performances. Some of the participating groups in the art parade created elaborate carnival costumes using recycled materials such as aluminum foil packs and cans. The environmental theater, which has been widely praised over the years, will kick off on October 20 this year. Titled "A Fantastic Journey through Wuhu Gang," it connects the history of Tamsui, involving over 400 amateur actors and community groups from Tamsui. The performance will unfold as a flowing theatrical experience along Tamsui streets, telling four historical stories including those of Liao Tianding and Cai Qian, offering the public a unique stroll along the Tamsui River.

This year’s art parade features over 40 participating teams, each blending unique Eastern and Western cultural elements distinctive to Tamsui. With themes such as the snake and turtle of the Dark Heavenly Emperor, British-style doll soldiers, and cherry blossom deity welcome ceremonies, the parade is organized around two main themes: "Blessings for Tamsui – A Prayer Journey" and "Gorgeous Elegance – An International Love Story." It will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on October 13, starting at Tamsui’s Hongmao Castle and passing through the Guanchao Art Plaza, Mackay Statue Roundabout Park, Fuyou Temple, Golden Waterfront Plaza, and the plaza behind the Tamsui MRT station. Some parade groups have incorporated environmental messages by crafting unique carnival costumes from recycled materials such as aluminum foil packs, cans, rice bags, and plastic bottles.
The highly anticipated Citizens’ Environmental Theater, themed "A Fantastic Journey through Wuhu Gang," will be performed in the evenings of October 20 and 21 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Using a flowing performance format, it includes four stories: "The First Heroic Outlaw Liao Tianding," "Pirate King Cai Qian," "The Eight Villages’ Great Deity," and "The Westerners’ Counterattack – Mackay’s Love." Starting at the Guanchao Art Plaza, performances will also be held at the Phase III Wharf, Fuyou Temple Plaza, and Golden Waterfront Plaza, offering visitors a unique wandering experience through Tamsui’s streets.

Performances will be delivered by groups such as the Brokenhearted Frontline Alliance, Tiger Theater Troupe, and Tamsui Art Dance Troupe, showcasing flamenco, dance drama, and world-class variety acts combining yo-yos and diabolos. Starting at 1:00 PM on the same afternoon, an eco-friendly market and handmade arts market will also be held in Tamsui Old Street, offering treats such as hand-painted cookies and freshly brewed artisan coffee.
Additionally, from October 19 to 28 starting at 10:00 AM, Tamsui Denggong Elementary School will host the "Fantastic Tamsui – Artist-in-Residence Exhibition," showcasing the preparation process, props, and performance records of participating schools. The exhibition highlights how school teachers, students, and artists developed a series of creative works based on Tamsui’s historical stories.
