The Fall of Silvergrass Season Returns: Autumn Hiking on Caoling Historic Trail and Hot Spring Benefits

The Caoling Historic Trail Silvergrass Season, a popular autumn event along the Northeast Coast that has entered its 11th year,will kick off from November 1 to 11 along the Caoling Historic Trail. Themed “Autumn Silvergrass Memories,” in addition to the classic 8.5-kilometer route of the “Caoling Historic Trail,” the event will also introduce a new “Collect Puzzle Pieces for Mystery Gifts” game at four stations: Yuanwangkeng Hydro Park, the Inn Ruins, the Forest Management Station, and Dali Visitor Center. Activities include tea service by the innkeeper, DIY workshops on rubbing rubbings and making dough figurines, enjoying vegetarian porridge at Dali Tian Gong Temple, free rides on the Lingjiushan shuttle bus up the mountain to view the silvergrass and receive gifts, as well as special offers from Northeast Coast partners. The Caoling Historic Trail Silvergrass Season has long been a flagship autumn event for the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area Administration, drawing large crowds of tourists each year to experience the cultural charm of the historic trail. This year, shuttle buses for the Silvergrass Season will operate from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM on November 3, 4, 10, and 11, traveling between Fulong Visitor Center and Yuanwangkeng Hydro Park. Visitors can take the shuttle bus to the entrance of the Caoling Historic Trail (Yuanwangkeng entrance), stroll along the trail, then walk to Dali to take the train back. The shuttle bus ride costs NT$15.

During the event period, 14 local businesses have also joined forces to launch the “Autumn Silvergrass Memories” series of special offers, available upon showing a Silvergrass Season stamp. These include accommodations in Toucheng and Jiaoxi offering up to 50% off weekday and 20% off weekend stays combined with hot spring bathing. Travel agencies such as Lion Travel, Wu Fu Travel, and Shang Shun are also offering value-added tour packages themed around the Silvergrass Season. Starting November 1, purchase the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle—Golden Fulong Line” NT$200 ticket package, which includes three-day unlimited rides on the Golden Fulong Line, Jiaoxi Line, and Dongshan River Line, plus an Fulong–Ludong Taiwan Railways ticket, and receive a Silvergrass Season souvenir.

In addition, the Huashan Foundation will host a second-hand charity market on the covered walkway of Fulong Visitor Center during the Silvergrass Season holidays. Visitors can exchange gifts with invoices from 25 stores or bring their own old clothes for a charity sale. Lingjiushan will also offer a “Fortune Gift” in exchange for event puzzle pieces during the Silvergrass Season holidays.
