Invoice Exchange for Pastries — Culinary Aromas at the Veterans' Village Arts Festival

The 2012 Hsinchu City Veterans' Village Arts Festival is set to kick off tomorrow (the 27th). At 10:00 AM on the day of the event, an opening ceremony will be held in front of the Black Bat Squadron Relic Exhibition Hall. In addition to military band performances, a chorus by hundreds of veterans' village mothers, community dance performances, and more, there will also be a “Nostalgia for the 1970s Star Gala,” featuring veteran singers and bands such as Yin Zhengyang, Wu Xiuzhu, Yan Heting, and Cai Yihong. There will also be an invoice exchange for food event, with a total of a thousand portions of Xuzhou sesame twists, Shandong flatbreads, and other veterans' village delicacies for the public to sample.

On the 27thplanned“Taste of Happiness vs. Veterans’ Village Delicacies” charity market will offer 1,000 portions of veterans' village foods such as Xuzhou sesame twists, Shandong flatbreads, leek pockets, mainland cakes, Fuzhou buns, spicy sausages, scallion pancakes, and flower rolls for the public to enjoy. Visitors can exchange two invoices from September or October for one portion of food. The event will also feature street performers, fun-shaped balloons, creative weaving, eco-DIY activities, knitted doll crafts, and live portrait sketching.

From now until December 30th, the “Veterans’ Village Themed Special Exhibition – Dreams of Patriotism and Prosperity” will also be held at the Veterans’ Village Museum, showcasing patriotic lottery tickets issued by the government between 1950 and 1987 to raise funds for economic development. Featuring themes of military defense and national celebrations, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the daily life, economic conditions, and social trends of veterans’ village residents at the time. As for the “Veterans’ Village Cinema,” from November 6th to 13th at the Image Museum, 11 classic films themed around veterans’ village culture will be screened, including “Good Country, Good People,” “Banana Paradise,” and “Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land.”

Additionally, in celebration of the third anniversary of the establishment of the Black Bat Squadron Relic Exhibition Hall, a children’s picture book titled The Secret of the Airplane will be published. On November 24th at 2:00 PM at the Baotu Pavilion of the Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau Library, the library’s storytelling moms will read stories and share the heroic deeds of the Black Bat Squadron, taking children into the mysterious world of top-secret missions.
