Soaking Experience and Dance Performances: The Taimali Hot Spring Festival Kicks Off on November 17

The 101st Taimali Township Golden Hot Spring Festival will take place from November 17 to December 9 at the Golden Hot Spring area. An opening ceremony will be held in front of the Golden Train Station at 19:00 on November 17, featuring a prayer ceremony by tribal elders, performances by local musical groups, and indigenous dance shows. Over the 23-day festival, four Saturday music performances by Mo Yan will be scheduled. Utilizing the hot spring resources along with the area's unique Paiwan indigenous culture and scenic estuary landscapes, the festival will offer activities such as hot spring soaking experiences, live glass bead DIY workshops, tastings of traditional indigenous cuisine, and weekly dance performances, stone painting cultural experiences, guided hikes along ancient mountain trails, and ecological activities. Packaged tours are also designed to allow visitors to deeply experience the local culture and heritage.

During the event period, a lucky draw will be held. Visitors who purchase vouchers locally will receive one lottery ticket. A total of 108 prizes worth up to NT$150,000 are on offer, with the grand prize being an electric scooter. The draw will take place during the closing ceremony on December 9 from 14:00 to 16:00. Vouchers can be used at local accommodations, restaurants, hot springs, handicraft shops, agricultural product stores, and general merchandise outlets within Taimali Township.　　

Taimali Township Mayor Cheng Cheng-chun stated that the Golden Stream basin is rich in natural resources, including mud crabs, Simaning, forest trails, the Dawu Mountain Ecological Education Center, and the Talang Xiangyang Heritage Carpentry Workshop. The packaged tours offered include three-he fishing net catches, visits to the indigenous birthplace, photo opportunities at Huayuan Beach, glass bead and snail-making experiences, and learning about indigenous culture at the Lalaolan Millet Workshop. This allows visitors to deeply engage with local culture beyond just hot spring soaking. Additionally, this year’s Taimali Township Hot Spring Festival is combined with the Golden Peak Township’s “Luo Yi Bu Jue — Roselle Flower Season,” providing a holistic experience of hot spring relaxation and tribal culture.
