The Taitung Hot Spring Festival offers an affordable hot spring getaway to Zhiben for just around NT$2,000.

Organized by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the “Taiwan’s Best Hot Springs – Hot Spring & Gourmet Carnival” series has entered its fifth year this year. On November 8, the event moves to Zhiben Hot Springs in Taitung. In addition to highlighting hot spring bathing and gourmet food, the Taitung County Government will coordinate with events such as New Year's celebrations, agricultural product showcases, and the Zhiben Chrysanthemum harvest to attract visitors. Various hot spring hotels are also offering special hot spring packages, with weekday stays for two people including breakfast and an open-air hot spring starting from just NT$1,999.

As winter approaches, it’s the perfect season for hot spring soaking. Located 17 kilometers southwest of Taitung City, Zhiben is famous for its colorless and odorless "beauty hot spring," which even attracts many Japanese tourists. Within the hot spring area, visitors can not only stay overnight, soak in the springs, and enjoy spa treatments, but also savor indigenous cuisine with health-focused concepts, various mountain vegetables and game meats, as well as dishes made with local Taitung agricultural products such as roselle, daylily, and chrysanthemum.

Zhang Tianrong, chairman of the Zhiben Hot Spring Tourism Promotion Association, pointed out that in conjunction with the hot spring festival, various hot spring hotels have put together value-packed hot spring vacation packages. Weekday stays for two people including breakfast and an open-air hot spring start from just NT$1,999. Stays at Dongtai Hot Spring Hotel including breakfast and dinner are NT$2,888. The Fuyeh Hot Spring Resort offers packages including breakfast and dinner plus a private hot spring room for NT$3,888. The Landis Hotels also offer a 30% discount on weekdays and 10% off on holidays. Other participating hotels include Dongyouji, Zhiben Tongmao, Gaoya Hotel, Zhiben Hongquan Resort, Yayawang Hot Spring Resort, Xin Zhiben, Yixuan, and Chaoyang hotels.
