Taste the Original Flavors: Tribal South Island Private Mini-Tours Starting at NT$349

In recent years, domestic travel has seen a growing trend toward in-depth experiences, especially those centered around indigenous cultures, which have become particularly popular among locals. The Indigenous Affairs Division of Pingtung County Government stated that to allow more people to easily explore indigenous villages, tours are now available starting at just NT$349 per person. The series of tours are now open for registration, with departures starting from the end of November. Only 12 groups will be offered, each limited to 30 people (with priority given to residents of Pingtung County).

The indigenous ethnic groups in Pingtung County are mainly the Rukai and Paiwan peoples, whose cultures are distinct from other indigenous groups and are known for their uniquely distinctive slate house villages, craft creations, artistic performances, and aristocratic class systems. To allow more people to experience the beauty of Austronesian tribal culture, the county government has specially selected high-quality indigenous villages within the region to plan the “Pingtasting Original Flavors. Tribal EYE (Love) Travel” series, featuring four exclusive themed tours. These tours span six classic townships, visiting nine distinctive indigenous villages, encompassing a full range of experiences including tribal village tours, farming activities, creative craft DIYs, and tasting of special local cuisines. The series also includes visits to permanent housing villages, showcasing the renewed spirit of these communities after natural disasters, aiming to fully present the charm of Pingtung’s indigenous villages.
