The Tainan Hot Air Balloon Carnival kicks off on January 19th with tethered rides available for 500 NTD per person

Tainan City will host the "2013 Tainan Winter Hot Air Balloon Carnival" series of tethered hot air balloon experiences for 30 consecutive days from January 19th to February 17th at Zouma Lai Farm. In addition, there will be a winter hot air balloon camp, with main courses including an introduction to basic hot air balloon knowledge, tethered ascent operations, and tethered ride experiences, divided into one-day and two-day camps. The hot air balloon light and music show will take place every Saturday (except February 10th) from 18:00 to 18:30, with a total of five sessions. Various hot air balloons will be combined with fireworks, lasers, light effects, and live music for a stunning audiovisual experience.

Tainan Mayor Lai Qingde stated that this "2013 Tainan Winter Hot Air Balloon Carnival," funded entirely by private sources, provides a major tourism event for Tainan during this year’s winter vacation and Lunar New Year holiday period. Taking a hot air balloon flight over Zouma Lai allows you to overlook the unique white chalk terrain of the Moon World. Moreover, this series of events spans 30 days, covering both the winter vacation and the Lunar New Year holiday, so residents of Tainan and visitors from all over Taiwan are welcome to join in. The tethered hot air balloon experience costs 500 NTD for a 5-minute ride, with 500–800 spots available each day, divided into three time slots: 7:00–9:00, 11:00–12:30, and 15:30–17:30 (only the morning slot is available on February 9th). The "2013 Tainan Winter Hot Air Balloon Carnival" series also features a million-dollar glider ground display and demonstration, with the pilot providing on-site explanations. The glider has a wingspan of 16 meters, holds the world record for a single flight duration of up to 15 hours, and can reach an altitude of 14,950 meters. There will also be the most romantic hot air balloon proposals and weddings. Other exciting activities include the Hot Air Balloon Cultural and Creative Museum, Hot Air Balloon History Museum, Happy Balloon Pavilion, Chinese and Western Food Street, local specialty product sales, souvenirs, a family fun castle, and a 3D flying action cinema.
