Avoid traffic jams during the Spring Festival holiday – Alishan offers free shuttle service

 

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area remains open over the Spring Festival. From February 10 (Monday) to February 17 (the eighth day of the Lunar New Year), between 8:00 and 17:00 daily, ten shuttle bus stops will be set up along Taiwan Provincial Highway 18, from kilometer 83 to kilometer 95 on the Alishan Highway, providing free shuttle bus services. Holiday visitors who take the shuttle bus can also enjoy a 25% discount on admission tickets.

The Chiayi Forest District Office stated that every year during the Spring Festival holiday, Alishan National Forest Recreation Area attracts a large number of visitors. Due to limited parking space within the area, in order to reduce parking time and avoid traffic congestion, visitors are encouraged to park their vehicles in order at the temporary parking spaces along Taiwan Provincial Highway 18 between kilometers 86 and 95, and then transfer to the free shuttle bus to enter the park, or use public transportation to get there. In addition, 200 motorcycle parking spaces will be designated for free motorcycle parking outside the main gate of the recreation area during the Spring Festival. For reasons of traffic flow planning and safety, motorcycles are completely restricted from entering the park.

 

Starting January 22, the “Group Visitor Entry Reservation and Diversion System” for Alishan National Forest Recreation Area has been launched. Daily entry is capped at 3,500 people traveling by Class A and B buses in the morning, and 2,500 in the afternoon. Group visitors must apply online three months to one day before entry, print the certification number, and place it on the vehicle’s windshield. This system will continue to be in effect during the Lunar New Year holiday to maintain recreational quality within the park.
