Kaohsiung Lantern Festival Offers Great Deals: Snap Photos for Lodging Vouchers

The Lantern Festival will be celebrated on February 24th. To draw in crowds, the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival offers more than just scenic waterway light displays and Taiwan’s one-of-a-kind harbor-circle aerial fireworks. From now until February 24th, the festival is running a special promotion. Visitors who take commemorative photos at any of the diverse themed product stalls at True Love Pier, the “Dios Mio Amazing Light & Sound Theater” on the Railway Bridge, or any of the romantic love-themed light installations along the greenway on HeRoad in the Love River area, and then upload them to the “Kaohsiung Tourism Network” Facebook fan page, can join the “Snap & Win Lantern Festival Goodies” campaign. Winners may receive free lodging vouchers.

Tourism industry players such as the Kaohsiung Hotel Association and the Kaohsiung Homestay Development Association have joined forces to boost the festival’s popularity by offering a variety of prizes. Those who complete their photo check-ins will be entered into a public drawing organized by the Tourism Bureau, with over 25 winners expected. Prizes include free lodging vouchers from Kaohsiung hotels and gift boxes of local agricultural specialties. Additionally, the top 10 participants whose uploaded photos receive the most “likes” will each win one homestay voucher.

Besides the harbor-circle aerial fireworks, this year’s Kaohsiung Lantern Festival also features highlights such as the “Dios Mio Amazing Light & Sound Theater” on the Railway Bridge, hourly laser light shows, romantic hot air balloons along the Love River, the Tree of Love, Willow Warmth and Blooming Spring, Starry Moon Companions, and Riding the Waves—various three-dimensional artistic light installations and international-themed lantern zones. In addition, the Hongmaogang Park has launched a Lantern Festival Fireworks Cruise starting today, giving visitors different ways to enjoy the harbor city’s waterfront light displays.
