Part Two of Sun Moon Lake’s Flower Appreciation Series: Lavender Season Begins Now

In this season of blooming flowers and awakening nature, flower appreciation events across Taiwan are competing in splendor. At the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, renowned for its cherry blossoms, the star of February—the Hundredfold Cherry Blossoms—is gradually drawing to a close, scattering petals all over the ground. The spring melancholy and fresh greenery amid the fallen petals offer a unique kind of beauty. Following the cherry blossoms, the Sun Moon Lake European Garden’s “Purple Love Lavender” series of events will run from now until April 7. Visitors can admire hundreds of thousands of Spanish lavender, fernleaf lavender, sawtooth lavender, and sage around the central Roman fountain in the garden. Starting March 2, live band performances will also be held every weekend, offering a musical feast surrounded by lavender.

In addition to the Formosan Aboriginal Choir performing daily at dusk among the lavender fields, the Purple Love March Music Concert will take place once a week starting March 2 on weekends. The program includes the premiere of “Purple Rhapsody” performed by Taiwan’s kids’ music group DoReMi Family and Happy Mozart Orchestra; on March 9, the performance will feature the Taiwanese Traditional Ensemble—Taiwan Map; on March 17, the Flower Love Recorder Concert will showcase the Taiwanese recorder ensemble that has performed in Japan, Korea, and China; on March 23, “Voices in Purple” invites the OPO A Cappella Choir to perform; on March 31, there will be a floral-themed performance by the floral art troupe; and on April 7, the Pegasus Creative String Quartet will make a grand finale appearance.

Additionally, on March 10, the Purple Valentine’s Day event will be held, inviting couples to enjoy the flower garden together. On March 30, there will be a One Piece fan flower viewing party and cosplay gathering. Cosplayers who dress up as any One Piece character and receive on-site verification will enjoy free admission. Furthermore, as part of the flower season special, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village tickets are available for just NT$580, and include free rides on the Sun Moon Lake One Piece Cable Car.
