Beitou Meiting Welcomes 1 Million Visitors with Calligraphy Gifts and Lucky Bags

Beitou Meiting has been open for three years since its launch in January 99 (2010) and is set to welcome its 1 millionth visitor this week. To celebrate the arrival of the 1 millionth guest, an exclusive commemorative gift — a fine reproduction calligraphy piece by the “Sage of Cursive Script, Master Yu Youren” — along with a Meiting exclusive commemorative gift lucky bag will be given to the lucky visitor. The public is encouraged to visit and stand a chance to become the 1 millionth lucky guest.

Beitou Meiting is Taiwan’s first cultural and art venue primarily focused on exhibiting the works of Yu Youren, the master of cursive script. It also houses a tourist service center to assist visitors to Xinbeitou, making it a successful example of revitalizing and repurposing historic buildings. Since its opening, it has hosted exhibitions, performances, and calligraphy promotion events that have been widely praised by the public.

To celebrate the arrival of the 1 millionth visitor, a “fine reproduction calligraphy piece by the Sage of Cursive Script, Master Yu Youren,” sponsored by the He Chuangshi Calligraphy Art Foundation, has been specially prepared. The calligraphy reads: “To establish the heart for Heaven and Earth, to establish the destiny for the people, to continue the lost teachings of past sages, and to open peace for all generations,” conveying the lofty aspirations of intellectuals. Additionally, the Meiting exclusive commemorative gift lucky bag includes six limited-edition exclusive items: a Meiting creative pen case featuring imagery of Beitou cherry blossoms and Yu Youren’s calligraphy, a DIY paper model of Meiting’s Japanese-style architecture, a USB flash drive, an L-shaped document folder, exquisite postcards, and a wooden keychain engraved with the two characters “Meiting” written by Yu Youren.
