Another exciting weekend family activity has been added!“2013 Taichung Cultural Shuttle – Explore New Taichung” was officially launched, brought to life through the vivid and lively travel stories of the Taichung Shengwuzhou Puppet Troupe and the Hurricane Extreme Dance Troupe. Hop on the cultural shuttle to explore the arts and culture facilities across Taichung’s mountain, sea, Tuen Mun, and urban districts, and embark on a holiday art adventure through the city’s rich cultural resources. Roam the Taichung art and culture map — the first batch of activities this year will open for registration from 9:00 AM on March 18 (Monday) to 5:00 PM on March 20 (Wednesday).

To promote the concept of user-pays and encourage the public to value these limited spots, this year’s cultural shuttle activities charge a fee of NT$100. This fee is directly reinvested into the activities — in addition to one art DIY experience per shuttle trip, there is now also an additional performing arts experience. It’s truly a great value art and culture experience. Moreover, to encourage multigenerational family trips, especially for seniors, eight special shuttle trips have been reserved for families with elderly members, allowing whole families to bond through art and culture.
The 2013 Taichung Cultural Shuttle – Explore New Taichung features two batches and eight art and culture tour routes, such as “Jazz Joy,” “Traditional Arts Fun,” “Hands-On Cultural Creativity,” “Artistic Hakka Village,” “Children’s Play Carnival,” “East-West Musical Adventure,” “Kick Up Your Heels,” and “The World of Pastry Art.”
From March to October, in addition to weekly Saturday departures, special Sunday trips are added during the July and August summer vacation period. Each route departs from one of the four cultural centers in Taichung, visiting local cultural venues, artistic highlights, historic buildings and monuments, artists’ studios, craft homes, and community-building spots. These tours offer the public a chance to experience the rich and fascinating art and culture resources of Taichung’s mountain, sea, Tuen Mun, and urban districts — such as Huashan Kiln, Zhongxin Art Village, Sunlight Hall Old Shop, Magic Balloon School, and the Taichung Tap Dance Troupe — all unique cultural destinations.
