The 2013 International Cycling Tour de Taiwan Road Race kicks off today

The 2013 International Cycling Tour de Taiwan will see competition take place in five of Taiwan’s most picturesque national scenic areas: Dapeng Bay, Siraya, Yunlin-Kaohsiung-Tainan Coastal, Shan Shan, and the North Coast & Guanyinshan. The event will host 184 top cyclists from 23 teams across 30 countries on all five continents.

Taiwan’s stunning landscapes are world-renowned, and its cuisine is a major draw for international tourists. This year, the prestigious Norwegian Team Frøy-Bianchi has been specially invited to compete in Taiwan. The entire team arrived in early March to conduct their preseason training in southern Taiwan, known for its spring-like climate year-round. In addition to race preparation, another key highlight was sampling Taiwan’s local delicacies. Team Frøy-Bianchi not only trained at Dapeng Bay Scenic Area but also visited Sandimen, an area rich in indigenous culture, to experience the warmth and hospitality that Taiwan is known for.

 

The 2013 International Cycling Tour de Taiwan Road Race runs from today until March 24. Through the hosting and broadcasting of this international event, more people around the world will get to see Taiwan. The public is welcome to join in the cycling fever.
