The Neimen Songjiang Array to Take Stage on March 30 in the Creative Parade Competition Finale in Kaohsiung

The 2013 Kaohsiung Neimen Songjiang Array event will take place from March 30 to April 7 at Shunxian Temple in Neimen, Kaohsiung. This year’s event will again host the National University and College Creative Parade Competition, where last year’s champion team—the Taiwan Academy of Traditional Arts—will face challenges from schools such as National University of Tainan and Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology. The program also includes a Parade Carnival, a gourmet feast by master caterers, and collaborates with tourism operators to offer four one-day tour packages themed around art, creativity, blessings, and ecology. For just NT$599 per person, participants can enjoy the Songjiang Array event and a lunch prepared by Neimen’s master caterers.

The National University and College Creative Parade Competition held annually during the Kaohsiung Neimen Songjiang Array event will hold its preliminary rounds on March 30 and 31, with the finals taking place on April 6. In addition to last year’s champion team, the Taiwan Academy of Traditional Arts, other participants include Lung Hwa University of Science and Technology, which has made the top three for six consecutive years, the Asia Pacific Institute of Creativity, making its debut, as well as Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology and Chung Chou University of Science and Technology, who have been regular participants in recent years—all set to showcase exceptional martial arts skills. During the Parade Carnival from April 1 to 7, performances will include the Songjiang Array by schools such as Jingyi Elementary School, Neimen Elementary School, and Qishan Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School, along with Chen-style Tai Chi, Indonesian martial arts, Chinese Shaolin martial arts, Japanese Osaka Awa Odori dance, and Xiamen Xiang’an Songjiang Array. On weekend evenings during the event, the Holy Mother Lake at Shunxian Temple will feature spectacular water dance performances, while the opening and closing nights will also include dazzling fireworks displays.

 

In addition, the event site will present the banquet dishes from this year’s Songjiang Array master caterer gourmet feast. The 10-course meal, named after Songjiang Array formations and featuring local agricultural specialties from Neimen, includes delicacies such as braised pork, red-cooked fish, rice cake, and universal sweet potato chicken soup. Each table costs NT$3,500, and reservations are now open. Furthermore, master caterer bento boxes will also be launched and sold at event site stalls from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on March 30 and 31, as well as from April 4 to 6.
