Rakuten Travel Co., a comprehensive travel booking website under the Rakuten Group (Japan’s largest online marketplace “Rakuten Market”), today held the 2013 Rakuten Travel Seminar in Taiwan and also presented the 2012 Rakuten Travel Awards to recognize outstanding performance by Taiwanese hotel operators.

The 2013 Rakuten Travel Seminar was held in 13 regions around the world, where Rakuten Travel shared its operational strategies and methods for using its proprietary systems, aiming to help hotel operators grow and thrive. The Rakuten Travel Awards were also presented to recognize hotels with excellent performance and high customer satisfaction ratings; this award serves as an important reference for Japanese travelers when choosing hotels on the Rakuten Travel website, and many past award-winning hotels have seen their business flourish. This year’s top honor, the “Diamond Award,” went to “The Ambassador Hotel Taipei.”

To further promote Japanese tourism to Taiwan, Rakuten Travel has signed a “Joint Business Promotion Agreement” with the Taiwan Tourism Bureau. Both parties will leverage Rakuten’s extensive Japanese membership base and website, along with the high-performing Taiwan office team, to launch various promotional activities that showcase Taiwan’s diverse appeal to Japanese travelers.

Activities include setting up a dedicated Taiwan tourism page on the Rakuten Travel website, introducing the latest travel information from Taipei, central, southern, eastern Taiwan, and the outlying islands. From the perspective of “Loving Taiwan 365 days a year,” the page highlights Taiwan’s multifaceted charm through local photos of sightseeing, food, regional cities, and hotels. At the same time, various travel packages are introduced based on traveler needs to attract visitors to Taipei and various local towns. Through this promotional campaign, Rakuten Travel aims to actively encourage travelers to visit Taiwan via its information channels, thereby increasing the number of Japanese tourists coming to Taiwan.
