Sample all of Taiwan’s specialty foods at Taipei City Hall Plaza in one go

The “Tribute to the Countryside. Taipei Carnival” is now in its fourth year. The event’s exhibition area is divided into eight major themed zones: baking industry, digital life, specialty dining, health and leisure, non-store retail, beauty and fashion, cultural creativity, and local specialty products. A total of 500 high-quality stores from all over Taiwan have gathered here, including Kangxi Xuan Golden Croissants from Sanxia, Quick Train Dried Meats from Taipei’s Nanmen Market, Lin San Yi from Dadaocheng, Zeng Ji Maqiu from Hualien, Haian Meilun from Taitung, Niuma Geothermal Valley from Yilan, Dajhong Duck from Miaoli, Mingshi Rice Bran Oil from Changhua, Mi Jiao Yi Noodles from Yunlin, Gong Bao Chicken from Neipu, Puli Beef Jerky from Nantou, the popular online store Green Beauty Net, and the drivers’ favorite Director’s Tea Eggs.

 

On the opening day, May 4, a “Happy Sheep Float Parade” will be held. Expect to see pumpkin carts, medieval carriages, vintage tricycles, classic cars, and street performers, creating a romantic atmosphere across different times and spaces. A special “Bridal Zone” has also been set up for soon-to-be-wed couples, themed “2013 Love You for Life.” It showcases wedding equipment and accessories, covering everything from engagement to wedding items, so you can shop for your complete happiness in one go.

 

In addition, there are various fun activities such as scanning QR codes to fill out surveys for gifts, liking for perks, “Playful DIY,” “All Yours – Prize Quiz,” “Start Bidding at One Dollar – Full of Love,” and “Happy Wedding Discount Packages.” Plus, spend just NT$500 on-site to join the lucky draw, with prizes including LCD TVs, shopping vouchers, and other great giveaways. There will be over 1,000 prizes available over the two days.

 

During the event, traffic control will be enforced on sections of City Hall Road (between Songshou Road and Songgao Road) and Xin Ren’ai Road. The restrictions will begin at 9:00 PM on Friday, May 3, and end at 4:00 AM on Monday, May 6. Vehicles will be prohibited from entering these road sections. For bus stops, buses that normally pass through Xin Ren’ai Road will reroute via Yixian Road; those passing through City Hall Road (Songshou–Songgao) will take Songzhi Road, Songgao Road, or Songshou Road instead.
