A bold red sofa paired with exuberantly blooming colorful flowers, a crimson goldfish on a sky-blue curtain, luxurious crystal chandeliers glowing with warm yellow light, and soft purple drapes hanging on ancient brick walls — it’s a scene both familiar and refreshingly new. Shanghai Rose Bar & Café is located in the Bund Source area of Shanghai, one of the city’s most historically significant and vibrant districts.

This historic building was originally the Shanghai Rowing Club, built in 1905, where Shanghai’s first indoor swimming pool was constructed in 1953. Its design draws inspiration from Victorian and Edwardian Baroque styles. After more than a century of history, the aging structure faced multiple threats of demolition before being designated as a historical building by the Shanghai municipal government. Now, Shanghai Rose Bar & Café revitalizes this heritage site, with its interiors personally designed by renowned photographer Mika Ninagawa. True to her signature vivid and dazzling style, the space feels like a glamorous film set from "Kamikaze Girls", where visually striking aesthetics and rich hues echo the elegance and romance of old Shanghai. Moreover, guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the fantastical illuminated nightscape of the Shanghai Bund while savoring life’s moments.
