20 Popular One-Day Park Itineraries for a Light Trip in New Taipei City

The 20 parks featured in this vote, combined with nearby attractions, offer diverse one-day itineraries covering ecology, art, culture, religion, historic sites, food, sports, and hiking—great options for leisure travel on weekdays or holidays. May is the season when the tung blossoms are in full bloom, making it the perfect time for a journey of mind, body, and spirit purification. Start your day in the early morning light at the famous Chengtian Temple to pray. From there, you can not only gaze at the bustling urban landscape of Greater Taipei but also admire the romantic beauty of white tung blossoms covering the mountains like spring snow. Then stroll along the interconnected forest trails, breathing in the forest’s phytoncides while listening to the natural symphony of frogs and birds. As you walk, delicate white tung blossom petals drift down like snow, forming a white carpet that leads all the way to Tucheng Tung Blossom Park. When lunchtime comes, there are plenty of restaurants around Chengtian Road where you can take a break, fill your stomach, and sample a variety of local specialties. As night falls, swarms of fireflies twinkle like sprites, turning the dark park into an early summer Christmas tree. Paired with the archway inscription that reads “Tung blossoms drift white over the mountains, firefly lights twinkle like stars,” it’s the perfect depiction of Tucheng Tung Blossom Park.

For those who love the town of Tamsui, the Japanese-style One Drop Water Memorial Hall in Heping Park, with its strong Japanese aesthetic set against blue skies and greenery, makes it feel as if you’ve traveled back in time to the Japanese countryside. The century-old wooden Japanese structure exudes tranquility and elegance. The vast lawns of Hobe Fort Park attract many couples taking wedding photos, and its convenient location allows the public to enjoy a leisurely holiday surrounded by sunlight and greenery. Nearby, the Hongmao Castle, Tamkang University, and Tamsui Old Street are popular local attractions that add a quaint, delicious touch to your Tamsui one-day itinerary.

 

Banqiao Rural Park, located near Jiangzicui Metro Station, is the first park in Taiwan themed around traditional rural life. The park’s traditional sanheyuan courtyard houses, landscape gardens, and folk performance stages showcase the rich charm of old farming culture. Rent a YouBike (New Taipei City’s public bicycle) and head to Chaohi Temple, built in the 2nd year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty and dedicated to the Three Officials Gods, then visit the Xinpu street food area for tasty snacks and the vibrant Banqiao Flower Market.
