The 2013 Yilan International Children's Folk Games Festival will grandly open on July 6. To enable more audiences to witness the exciting performances of foreign folk dance groups, the Yilan County Government has especially hosted the “Children’s Games XVIII. Dancing Youth – 2013 Yilan International Children's Folk Games Festival Series Performances” at the Yilan Performing Arts Center. The shows will be held every Friday from July 19 to August 16 (7/19, 7/26, 8/2, 8/9, 8/16) at 7:30 PM, totaling 5 performances.

This series of performances is a highlight of the Yilan Performing Arts Center’s summer schedule over the years. This year, approximately 10 foreign folk music and dance troupes from Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa will be invited to present a United Nations-like array of vibrant dance performances. Backed by the professional lighting and sound of an indoor theater, the performance style will offer a refreshing contrast to the joyful atmosphere of the outdoor performances in the festival park.

Tickets for the “Dancing. Children. Games.” series will be sold through the National Theater Concert Hall ticketing system, with single-show tickets priced at NT$150. To give back to the residents of Yilan, 100 special ticket packages (1 package = 10 tickets for NT$1,000, valid for any show) have been printed. Yilan residents can present identification at the performing arts center to purchase them, with a limit of one package per ID. To fight rising costs together with the public, visitors holding a ticket stub from the “2013 Yilan International Children's Folk Games Festival” can purchase a NT$100 discount voucher at the performing arts center (one voucher per ticket stub); those holding a stub from the “Children’s Games XVIII” performance can also exchange one ticket stub for one festival park discount voucher.
This year marks the 18th anniversary of the Children's Games Festival. The “Children’s Games XVIII” series has specially planned two interesting free ticket collection schemes. The “XVIII Enter” scheme allows youths born between 1995 and 1997 to claim one single-show ticket upon presenting their ID card. The “XVIII Farewell” scheme benefits arts and culture enthusiasts—those who hold three old ticket stubs from Children's Games events before 2012, or five old ticket stubs from any 2013 Yilan Performing Arts Center performances (excluding package tickets for this event), can claim one single-show ticket. Both schemes allow free collection of tickets starting the Tuesday one week before each performance, while supplies last.
