Anping Shop — Famous Anping Delicacy: Crispy Shrimp Crackers
Shrimp crackers are a famous specialty of Anping. Walking along Anping Old Street, you’ll find shrimp cracker shops everywhere, and nearly everyone buys a pack as a souvenir. To cater to modern healthy eating trends, Mr. Cai Zhenyu, the owner of Anping Shop, created an innovative version of crispy shrimp crackers. In addition to original, spicy, seaweed, and black pepper flavors, there are also exclusive varieties such as milkfish and Hokkaido king crab crackers. They’re delightfully crispy and crunchy. Also, the low-sugar handmade nougat from Anping Shop is selling like hot cakes too!

Lin Yongtai Xing Preserved Fruit Shop — A Fine Century-Old Store
Known as Taiwan’s premier street, Anping’s “Yanping Street” in Tainan is truly full of hidden gems. Several long-established preserved fruit shops sit side by side, but the only true century-old shop among them is “Lin Yongtai Xing.” With over 130 years of history, Lin Yongtai Xing Preserved Fruit Shop has now been passed down to the fourth generation and has been awarded the title of “Fine Century-Old Store” by Tainan City Government. The rows of jars and bottles displayed at the shop entrance are all family heirlooms, their worn marks a testament to their value.

The owner starts preparing fresh braised and smoked items every early morning. The unique aroma comes from the owner’s carefully selected herbal formulas, combined with rock sugar and salt specially blended into a meat sauce broth. The mixture is slowly simmered over low heat, then smoked with sugar and dehydrated to infuse deep flavor. Whether it’s duck wings, blood rice cakes, or smoked eggs, the sweet braised aroma gets even more delicious with every chew.
