Artists Wusiai Aile and VOX Play Vocalist Chung Yihun welcomed their daughter Zhong Ai in late 2016. Recently, the couple visited Taichung to introduce fans to the “Fide Ark” restaurant, which features a signature dessert called the “Flaming Alaska.” When served, the dish is flambéed tableside, leaving them amazed, and they couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was. They believe that when you're in Taichung, this is the gourmet restaurant you have to visit.
As soon as they walked into the restaurant, Wusiai Aile and Chung Yihun were awestruck by its grandeur. The entire building is constructed using shipbuilding techniques, resembling a real Noah’s Ark. There's also an exterior water curtain animation, making it quite luxurious. The restaurant even raises oversized seafood, which captivates diners.

On the day of the interview, Wusiai Aile and Chung Yihun tried many dishes, including “Charred Baby Octopus,” “Roman-style Braised Tripe,” “Scallop Gnocchi,” “60-hour Sous-vide Warm Soaked Bone-in Short Rib,” “Mantis Shrimp,” and “Finding Hope.” But when the “Flaming Alaska” was served, their eyes instantly lit up, showing just how captivating this dessert is.

Charred Baby Octopus
The name of this dish is quite cute, actually translated directly from abroad. Each octopus is about the size of a thumb. The chef blanches it first, then sprinkles it with olive oil. It has a very refreshing taste and is served with chocolate cookies and potatoes, offering a multi-layered texture.

Roman-style Braised Tripe
This dish uses a more traditional method, with tomato sauce in the gravy. The tripe can be eaten directly with bread. Wusiai Aile joked that eating tripe is very good for her since she's breastfeeding — “what one eats, two benefit from.”

Mixed Fried Delights
While eating this dish, the couple frequently shared sweet moments, with the husband feeding the wife. Chung Yihun said whether it was crispy fried baby oysters or battered and deep-fried large oysters, the ingredients were all very fresh — “you can taste the flavor of the sea!”

60-hour Sous-vide Warm Soaked Bone-in Short Rib
This short rib looks quite impressive. Instead of being pan-seared like typical steaks, it's baked at a low temperature. The meat is tender and pinkish, served at just the right warmth—not too hot—and the texture is somewhat similar to pork ribs, very soft and tender.

Scallop Gnocchi
The most special thing about this dish is that the scallops and gnocchi look incredibly similar and have a very alike texture, making it hard to tell them apart. Although it often leads to laughs while eating, they all highly praised this dish.

Flaming Alaska
This dessert is the highlight of the evening. The server first heats up orange liqueur, then sprinkles it around the cake. Due to the alcohol igniting with heat, the area around the cake suddenly bursts into blue flames, as beautiful as the aurora in Alaska. Even better, this dessert isn’t just about looks — it tastes amazing too!

Finding Hope
This dessert may seem simple — just a piece of chocolate cookie paired with liquid nitrogen — but it’s full of flair. The taste is actually quite complex, with a sweet-and-salty profile that makes you want to eat it again and again. As for why it's called “Finding Hope,” it's actually related to the story of Noah’s Ark, where a dove brought back an olive branch — a very meaningful name.
