Ride bikes and enjoy the scenery of Turtle Island at the Gongliao Ocean Music Festival

The upcoming 2013 New Taipei City Gongliao International Ocean Music Festival has collaborated with local travel operators to offer this summer’s most eco-conscious “Summer Cycling Adventure – Bike Craze at the Ocean Festival” and the most ocean-inspired “Whale Watching & Ocean Festival One-Day Tour.” In line with the spirit of the festival, these tours encourage riders to pedal all the way to the ocean celebration, embrace the courage to feel the music’s rock vibe, and let participants bathe in the forest and wander by the sea while soaking up the electric festival atmosphere.

The “Summer Cycling Adventure – Bike Craze at the Ocean Festival” itinerary allows participants to bring their own bicycles or rent one from the travel agency upon registration. Together with friends, the journey begins with a bike ride starting from the Taipei Zoo Muzha. Cyclists will travel along Provincial Highway 106B, where the scenery transitions from bustling urban views to lush forested landscapes. Pedaling through the old streets of Jingmei and Pingxi, you can experience the charm of old-time Taiwan. Riding through the scenic routes, you’ll eventually arrive near Fulong Station, where bikes can be loaded onto a dedicated shuttle bus in preparation for transforming into a music lover and enjoying the creative energy of indie bands at the Ocean Festival. Throughout the trip, Lion Travel will also provide support vehicles stocked with snacks and water to keep your energy up, ensuring you won’t have to worry about running out of stamina while enjoying a leisurely bike ride.

The “Whale Watching & Ocean Festival One-Day Tour” is designed around the concept of connecting with nature and the ocean. Participants are invited to take a scenic cruise around Turtle Island in Yilan for whale and dolphin watching. Not only can you admire the beautiful marine creatures swimming in the ocean, but you can also observe the natural ecology around the island. Facing the vast open sea, all worries temporarily fade away. After the whale-watching cruise, continue the maritime theme with lunch at Yilan’s iconic Wushih Port, where you can savor a rich seafood feast. Energized and full, head straight to the Ocean Festival to cheer for your favorite bands or, at an additional cost, ride a bike through the nostalgic Old Caoling Tunnel.

The 2013 Ocean Festival’s two package tours — “Summer Cycling Adventure – Bike Craze at the Ocean Festival” and “Whale Watching & Ocean Festival One-Day Tour” — let you set off happily, enjoy a full day of fun, and fully unleash your passion and energy. At the end of the day, you can relax on the shuttle bus instead of squeezing into public transport with other travelers. The package tours are available at a special price of just NT$1,499. The “Summer Cycling Adventure – Bike Craze at the Ocean Festival” requires a minimum of 16 participants to depart, while the “Whale Watching & Ocean Festival One-Day Tour” requires at least 30 participants to set off for the Ocean Festival.
