Taiwan’s first Jimmy Liao Theme Square, in conjunction with the “Lancheng Star” project, has transformed the old railway dormitory area south of Yilan Railway Station through urban renewal into a bright and open recreational space. It presents the theme “Moments of Scenery,” drawing imagery from three of Jimmy Liao’s picture books—“Starry Starry Night,” “The Underground City,” and “Turn Left, Turn Right.” The selected images evoke themes of “travel” and “fragments of life’s scenery,” blending stories and spaces so that as you stroll through, it feels like stepping into a picture book—or like the characters have jumped out of the pages and come alive before you.
