Typhoon Soudelor, a powerful storm, is hitting Taiwan this week, leading to the postponement of four music festivals.

The annual “New Taipei City Gongliao International Marine Music Festival” kicked off yesterday. The first day’s theme, “Rock the Global Village,” featured the Russian hardcore punk band “Scarlet Pills,” the Australian “The On Fires,” the American “Far From Finished,” Japan’s rising pop-rock sensation “flumpool,” and the Chinese band “Escape Plan,” which blends British and pop-rock styles. The headliner was Taiwan’s legendary rock band Mayday, joined by international guest performers, all bringing the Gongliao shores to life with their instruments and voices. However, due to the approaching Typhoon Soudelor, the originally planned five-day event will be postponed after last night’s opening, with activities scheduled for July 11–14 rescheduled.
