Since the announcement of the first Taipei Michelin Guide last year and its scheduled release in the first quarter of 2018, it has not only been a hot topic among restaurants and food enthusiasts, but also which establishments might make the list has become a major point of discussion.

The official announcement date for the Taipei Michelin Guide has been set for Wednesday, March 14, 2018, when the list of honored restaurants will be revealed.
The evaluation criteria, and the standards for reviewing Taipei’s cuisine, are the same as those used in other countries. The five key criteria are as follows:
1. The degree of preparation of ingredients
2. The skill in handling food
3. Innovative concepts and the ideas chefs wish to express through their food
4. Whether the dining experience is consistent
5. Whether it offers good value for money
According to past Michelin Guide releases, the range of restaurants covered is quite broad, and even affordable eateries could potentially be included. In the future, besides Taipei having a Michelin Guide, whether other cities in Taiwan will also launch Michelin Guides will be a topic of discussion and an expected focus.
