The Guam Ko’Ko’ Marathon kicks off on October 20 – early bird discounts available for registrations before the end of August

Friends who love running, get your running shoes ready – the annual Guam Ko' Ko' International Marathon is set to run with passion this October！ This running event includes a four-person marathon relay and a half marathon race, with a course certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), starting from Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park and covering beautiful areas such as Tumon Bay and the capital Hagåtña, allowing participants to take in Guam’s stunning scenery. In addition to the blue sea and sky along the way, this marathon will also feature cheer squads and traditional song and dance performances to cheer on the runners.

The Guam Ko' Ko' Road Race began in 2006 and is now in its eighth year. Guam Visitor Bureau Director Carl T.C. Gutierrez enthusiastically welcomes runners from around the world to join this running event: “We believe that whether you’re a local runner or a running enthusiast who has come from afar, you can all experience the most beautiful scenery of Guam during this marathon.”

 

This year’s Ko' Ko' International Marathon will be held on October 20, and registration is now open. Interested participants can complete the registration process online. The registration deadline is October 16, 2013, and those who register before August 31 can also enjoy early bird discounts.

 

Guam Ko' Ko' The name of the road race competition, “Ko' Ko',” comes from a rare and unique bird native to Guam. The original intention of holding this competition was to raise public awareness about the issue of the Ko' Ko' bird being endangered and to encourage support for conservation efforts.
