Youth High-Speed Rail Discounts: Up to 50% Off Round-Trip Tickets Plus Bonus Rewards

Save on family summer trips—Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) is launching the “Youth Discount Program” from now until September 1. Passengers aged 12 to under 19 can enjoy 50% or 70% off when traveling in standard class assigned seating on selected trains. In addition, THSR is giving extra rewards to round-trip ticket users. Passengers who purchase a round-trip ticket between August 1 and October 31 and complete all 8 rides will receive an additional half-price free-seat ticket as a bonus.

THSR stated that there are a total of 249 eligible train services per week under the “Youth Discount Program”; among them, 91 services offer 50% off and 158 offer 70% off. Passengers aged 12 to under 19 can present a valid ID (with name, photo, and date of birth) at the station ticket window during the campaign period to purchase tickets and enjoy these discounts. Each ID can only be used to buy one discounted ticket per journey.

 

At the same time, THSR is offering extra rewards for frequent travelers. Those who purchase or renew a round-trip ticket between August 1 and October 31 and complete all the rides can, before December 31, go to any station ticket window with that round-trip ticket to exchange for one free-seat ticket for the same section and on the same day at a 50% discount. The ride count is limited to the number of rides on a single round-trip ticket purchase; rides accumulated from different round-trip ticket purchases cannot be combined.
