Star Alliance Launches Its Largest-Ever Taiwan Event with EVA Air Joining

EVA Air joined the world’s largest airline alliance, Star Alliance, on June 18 as its 28th member, officially launching Star Alliance activities in Taiwan. Following the success of EVA Air’s “I See You” campaign, the airline plans to roll out a series of subsequent events. It will actively promote Star Alliance’s visibility in Taiwan together with other member airlines, enabling Taiwanese travelers to easily fly to destinations around the world through Star Alliance’s extensive network. Travelers can also accumulate and redeem miles on any Star Alliance flight through the new premium card “Infinity MileageLands,” and enjoy flexible round-trip travel across multiple countries via Star Alliance’s discounted ticket packages or passes.

First, EVA Air will add two new destinations—Kaohsiung in Taiwan and Surabaya in Indonesia—to the Star Alliance network, extending its service coverage to the rapidly growing cross-strait market. The number of travelers between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait increased from 3.1 million in 2009 to 8.95 million in 2012. To provide seamless service, EVA Air now offers connecting flight booking services for passengers traveling onward on Star Alliance flights. Passengers no longer need to visit a transfer counter to collect their next boarding pass, and under local customs regulations, their luggage can be checked through directly to the final destination.

 

In addition, in line with joining Star Alliance, EVA Air has launched a new premium card, “Infinity MileageLands.” Members can accumulate and redeem miles on any Star Alliance flight. Diamond and Gold members of “Infinity MileageLands” will enjoy Star Alliance Gold-tier benefits on all member airline flights, including access to over 1,000 lounges worldwide, additional free baggage allowances, and priority baggage delivery. Members of other Star Alliance airlines will also enjoy the same benefits when flying on EVA Air.

 

In terms of travel and tourism, the Star Alliance network offers “Round the World Fares,” “Pacific Explorer Passes,” and various “Travel Passes,” allowing travelers to move freely within a single country or even an entire continent. Each type of pass can be customized, enabling travelers to get the most suitable itinerary at the most affordable price. Passengers simply need to book a flight with an international Star Alliance member airline and specify a country or continent to begin their tailored travel pass journey.
