The Kaohsiung Hot Air Balloon Carnival is counting down — dads and couples can win free rides

The 37-day "Kaohsiung Takes Off—City Hot Air Balloon Carnival" held at Kaohsiung’s Chengcing Lake has entered its final week, ending this Sunday, August 11. To date, it has drawn over 200,000 park visitors and more than 10,000 hot air balloon rides. Those who want to take a ride but haven’t yet should seize the last chance.

On Father’s Day, August 8, the Kaohsiung hot air balloon event launched a double Father’s Day lucky draw. First draw: Just bring your park admission stub and visit the event service desk with your dad for a chance to win a coffee from Gold Mine for your dad—88 spots available. Second draw: Dads can exchange their park ticket stubs for a lucky draw ticket, with 8 lucky dads to be selected at 5:00 PM to ride a hot air balloon for free and see Kaohsiung from above.

 

From August 9 to 11, couples can visit the event service desk with their park tickets to get a lucky draw coupon. Each day at 5:00 PM, 3 sweet couples will be drawn to enjoy a free tandem hot air balloon ride, soaring together to celebrate love. At 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on August 10 and 11, there will also be the “Fall in Love with Hot Air Balloons” fun competition. Everyone who joins gets a small gift, and the first-place winners get a coffee from Gold Mine. Couples and families are welcome to sign up on-site.

 

Residents outside southern Taiwan can also take advantage of the final accommodation offer. By booking the “Hot Air Balloon Carnival Joy Holiday” package at Hsian Hotel International or Kaohsiung Business Travel, or by presenting a full-spending receipt from these hotels to purchase a VIP ticket, you’ll receive a guaranteed VIP hot air balloon ride voucher. This includes a morning ride plus an extra 120 seconds of flight time, letting you plan a relaxing Kaohsiung harbor and river trip with your loved one during the weekend.

Hot air balloons fly daily from 6:30 to 8:30 AM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with each ride lasting 5 minutes and costing NT$500. The first 100 riders each day also receive a bottle of black tea drink—Black Sugar Fin. Between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, and 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, there are also Hot Air Balloon Walk-In experiences, thrilling hot air balloon flame shows, and basket photo ops. On the hour during these times, there are also hot air balloon launch demonstrations. On Saturdays from 7:00 to 7:15 PM, there’s a nationwide first: an aquatic illusion light show.

 

To allow more people to join in the hot air balloon activities, entry to Chengcing Lake is free before 6:00 AM daily. Weekday admission from 6:00 to 12:00 is half price, and weekday ticket holders get a NT$50 discount on tethered ride vouchers.
