The Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival came to a close with 360,000 attendees

The "2013 Taipei Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival" concluded successfully last Saturday (the 10th) evening under the dazzling dance of fireworks choreographed with the Taipei Municipal Symphony Orchestra's affiliated wind orchestra. Attendees were estimated at 250,000 from Taipei City and 110,000 from New Taipei City, totaling 360,000.

Taipei’s Dadaocheng Fireworks Festival has been held for nine years. This year, aside from the usual eye-catching fireworks, there were two unprecedented innovations: one was the live performance of the fireworks soundtrack by the Taipei Municipal Symphony Orchestra’s affiliated wind orchestra, and the other was that the "Fire Dance" soundtrack for the Zhongxiao Bridge fireworks was specially composed for the festival and will become the theme music for future Dadaocheng fireworks shows.

The evening’s fireworks show began with the "Ode to Joy" movement performed by the Taipei Municipal Symphony Orchestra’s affiliated wind orchestra, as shooting star fireworks streaked across the sky and extended to the riverside secondary stage, kicking off a series of spectacular fireworks displays. First up was the 720-meter-long Zhongxiao Bridge rainbow waterfall fireworks accompanied by the crossover of EDM and classical music in "Fire Dance," where uninterrupted fireworks on the bridge and over the river, combined with performances by the wind orchestra and DJ on stage, created an overwhelming atmosphere. This was followed by the ballet piece "Bacchanale," which added more joy to the event, with six-directional colorful flower bursts and various light bead fireworks illuminating the entire Dadaocheng river surface. After nearly eight minutes of stunning effects, various rising tail fireworks lit up the Taipei night sky, accompanied by a reimagined version of the Dadaocheng classic tune "Longing for the Spring Breeze" by Li Linqiu and Deng Yu-xian, evoking many memories among the attendees.

FollowingThe distinctly rhythmic Irish song "Lord of the Dance" acted like a metronome, with fireworks forming diverse geometric patterns in the sky in time with the music, leaving the audience amazed. This year’s most romantic fireworks display, "Lover’s Rain" (also known as Golden Rain), was specially paired with the soundtrack "Carmina Burana." The golden rain showers paired with the majestic wind music made the entire Dadaocheng area feel like a classical and opulent palace. Finally, the water fan chrysanthemum burst fireworks, various aerial fireworks, and the upbeat "Galliard Dance" pushed the entire fireworks show to its climax. A visually and sonically impressive display brought the public an extra joyful and unforgettable summer night.
