Yellow Rubber Duck Taiwan Itinerary: Arrives in Keelung on 12/21

 

The much-anticipated Yellow Rubber Duck, after its first stop in Kaohsiung from September 19 to October 20 and its second stop in Taoyuan from October 26 to November 10 as part of the "Taoyuan Land Art Festival," has now confirmed that its final destination, Keelung, will host the exhibit starting December 21 for six weeks at Keelung Harbor.

This, the largest Yellow Rubber Duck in Asia, has garnered tremendous attention from duck fans since its announcement to visit Taiwan. The confirmed locations for the duck's playful appearances include Kaohsiung’s Glory Pier, Taoyuan’s Xingu Houhu Pond, and Keelung’s Keelung Harbor. The Kaohsiung event will kick off during the Mid-Autumn Festival, allowing those planning a harbor city trip for the holiday to catch a glimpse of the duck, while the Keelung event coincides with Christmas and New Year’s, making Keelung Harbor a popular spot for both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

 

The Yellow Rubber Duck exhibited in Taiwan stands 18 meters tall and weighs nearly 1,000 kilograms, significantly larger than the 16.5-meter version previously displayed in Hong Kong. However, another Yellow Rubber Duck set to appear at the “2013 Beijing Design Week” on September 16 will also grow taller than originally planned due to a change in location—from the initially scheduled 10 meters, it is expected to surpass the height of the one in Hong Kong, leading to a simultaneous rubber duck tourism boom on both sides of the strait.
