A single flight can carry at least several hundred passengers, and the responsibility of flight attendants is to help make your journey more comfortable. However, regrettably, many people think that once they’ve paid, flight attendants become their personal servants.According to the UK’s Daily Mail, here are 10 of the most common unreasonable requests made by difficult passengers—please pay attention, travelers.
1. Don’t call them “waitresses”—they’re not servers.
2. Please “put your carry-on luggage in the overhead bin yourself.” Flight attendants are not responsible for this.
3. Ignoring the flight attendant’s reminder to switch your phone to “airplane mode.”
4. Asking flight attendants to watch your child—they’re not babysitters.
5. Making endless demands for service—you’re not their master.
6. Constantly asking what drinks are available: there’s a list in the pouch in front of your seat. Flight attendants can’t repeat the same question to every passenger one by one!
7. Constantly asking why the flight is delayed. Flight attendants often don’t know the reason either. You may be annoyed—but they might be too, and they also have to deal with a bunch of difficult passengers constantly asking. Can you please stay quiet for a bit?
8. Don’t just try to take advantage of free alcohol by constantly asking for refills, ignoring other passengers who haven’t been served yet.
9. Asking to use the toilet when the seatbelt sign is still on before takeoff. According to aviation regulations, this is illegal and may cause delays in the flight’s departure.
10. Please keep smiling. You never know what the flight attendant went through that day. Being rude and bossy to them—take a moment to think, they’re the ones who keep you safe throughout your flight.
