Hankyu Umeda Main Store

Established in 1929, the Hankyu Umeda Main Store has undergone renovations since 2006 and completed them in 2011. Floors 1–6 are entirely focused on female shoppers, offering products suitable for women of all ages. The 5th floor also houses BVLGARI IL Café, where you can enjoy high-class afternoon tea. Additionally, if you’re short on time for shopping for souvenirs from Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe, the basement floor gathers well-known local stores from the Kansai region.

Umeda Sky Building Observatory

The Umeda Sky Building, themed “urban and nature,” “past and future,” features a “Forest of Nature” with flowing water and a vibrant “Flower Field” within the modern high-rise complex. The Sky Building, composed of the East and West Towers, is an impressive arch-shaped ultra-high-rise resembling an Arc de Triomphe. Viewed from the square at ground level, it’s truly spectacular. Take a high-speed elevator to the 35th floor, then transfer to a 140-meter-long domed escalator that goes straight up to the 39th floor, where you’ll find the glass-enclosed observation room. Climb the stairs further up to the rooftop for the 360-degree Umeda Sky Building Observatory, offering a breathtaking view of Osaka’s illuminated cityscape at night.

Ebisubashi Bridge

Located at the entrance of Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi, Ebisubashi Bridge is always bustling with people—shop promoters, people waiting, and tourists. From Ebisubashi, you can see the giant billboard of Glico Man, a famous Osaka icon, along Ebisubashi Shopping Street. Passersby frequently stop to take photos, making the area lively with camera flashes.

Tsutenkaku Tower

In Shinsekai, full of old street charm, Tsutenkaku is the most eye-catching building and also a landmark of southern Osaka. Built during the Meiji period, this 103-meter tower was modeled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, and incorporates elements of an Arc de Triomphe. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during the war, but the current structure was rebuilt by the community. Take the elevator up to the 5th-floor observation deck for a panoramic view of southern Osaka. The most popular attraction is the lucky statue “Billiken.” Though it looks like it’s either smiling or frowning, the statue is actually the work of an American artist. It’s said that touching its feet and making a wish for exam success or love greatly increases your chances of having your dream come true—often seen as couples visit together to pray.
