Taipei Lunchboxes Hide Surprises: Eat, Snap, Win Big Prizes

To benefit office workers who always eat out for meals, the Taipei City Government has launched the hot-off-the-press “Taipei Lunchbox Hidden Treasures Map,” along with an i-Pad mini and over NT$12,000 in gift vouchers. From now until October 26, follow the map to find lunch and join the prize draw fun. Additionally, the “Champion Lunchbox Ranking Competition” will be held at the Expo Park Flower Exhibition Hall on October 26–27 to select the top chicken leg and pork rib lunchboxes, with total prizes worth NT$69,000. Registration is open from now until October 20.

The selection criteria for vendors featured in the “Taipei Lunchbox Hidden Treasures Map” brochure were quite strict. First, from June 6 to July 7, the Department of Commerce gathered candidate vendors through self-nominations on Facebook or recommendations from food lovers across the city, collecting a total of 307 lunchbox shops. Then, through district-based questionnaire surveys in 12 administrative regions, they narrowed it down to 100 top lunchbox vendors. Among these, 52 vendors expressed willingness to participate in the marketing campaign and completed guidance from the Health Bureau.

 

Taipei City Department of Commerce Director Huang Yiyi stated that to avoid missing any hidden gems and to uncover more local great lunchboxes, a second wave of the “Group Good Lunchbox Collection” campaign will be launched. This time, they will take a proactive approach by reaching out to government agencies, companies, transportation services, and other organizations to collect lists of go-to lunchbox vendors from group order staff, lunchbox planners, and welfare committee members. They aim to screen up to 50 lunchbox vendors and launch the “Hidden Treasures Map Part 2 – Group Good Lunchboxes” by the end of October. The goal is to find quality lunchbox vendors that drivers, groups, or meeting attendees would most want to order from.

 

This time, the Taipei Department of Commerce has partnered with special lunchbox vendors across Taiwan, including chain stores such as “Wu Tao,” “Hu Xu Zhang,” “Ming De Vegetarian Garden,” and “National Vegetarian Buffet,” as well as healthy meal boxes from “Yuan Li Xiang,” locally sourced selections from “Original Flavor Lunchbox,” the first direct-operated lunchbox brand built by farmers, fishermen, and livestock producers—“Tian He Fresh Products & Meals,” the health-conscious “A Zhi Rice Kitchen,” and the Japanese-style curry “CHIFFON.” There’s also the founding vendor of Wanhua pork rib rice, “Golden Garden Pork Ribs,” among a total of 365 vendors. Together, they’re launching the “Lunchbox with a Gift, i-Pad mini for You” marketing campaign. From now until October 26, simply visit any of the participating or map-listed vendors, take a photo with the environment or product, upload it to the campaign website with the vendor’s name noted, and you could win an i-Pad mini.

 

Additionally, from now until October 26, just visit any participating or map-listed vendor in Taipei City or New Taipei City, check in, and like the post. For every three vendors checked in, you can enter a prize draw once at the “2013 Taipei Trendy Lunchbox Carnival” held at the Expo Park Flower Exhibition Hall on October 26–27.
