The Little Yellow Duck in Kaohsiung counts down to its farewell as the fleet sounds horns on 10/20

The Little Yellow Duck exhibition in Kaohsiung has attracted over 2.31 million visitors as of October 7. The Kaohsiung City Government announced that the closing ceremony will be held at 16:00 on October 20 at Glory Pier, with the duck scheduled to depart at around 16:30 amid horn sounds, water sprays from the fleet, and cheers from citizens and tourists, returning from Glory Pier to Pier-2 Art Center.

The Little Yellow Duck exhibition in Kaohsiung is entering its final countdown. According to Lai Jui-long, Director of the Kaohsiung City Government’s Information Bureau, to allow all citizens and visitors to jointly bid farewell to the duck, the closing ceremony will officially begin at 16:00 on the 20th. The exhibition team has prepared two tugboats, one work vessel, and arranged for divers to connect towing cables to the duck’s floating platform underwater. After the closing performance, around 16:30, the duck will be towed back from Glory Pier to Pier-2 Art Center by tugboat. Subsequent steps including hoisting it ashore, deflating it, and packing it up are planned to be completed before 6:00 p.m.

 

In addition, during the two holiday periods from October 10–13 and October 19–20, free shuttle buses will start earlier at 10:00, with increased frequency during peak hours—running as often as every 5 minutes. The inner lanes of Youth Road (between Zhonghua Road and Haibian Road) in both directions and the westbound inner lane of Youth Road (between Zhongshan Road and Zhonghua Road) will be designated as public transport-only lanes. Except for shuttles, coaches, buses, taxis, and emergency vehicles, other vehicles are prohibited. Left turns by cars will also be banned at intersections along the route.
