A sea of autumn flowers blooms along the riverside in Guting — a super romantic date on a floral carpet

Planning a romantic and nature-filled mini-trip after work or during the weekend in Taipei? In addition to riding a UBike to enjoy the refreshing autumn breeze, you can immerse yourself in the two-month-long floral beauty at Guting Riverside Park. The park features a floral carpet woven from marigolds, scarlet sage, and angelonia, where you can wander amid a symphony of red, white, purple, and pink hues — guaranteed to make your partner’s heart bloom.

Not to be outshone by the popular Xinshe Flower Sea Festival each autumn, the Guting Riverside Park, revitalized by the Taipei City Government’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems, presents a floral carpet inspired by the patterns of water ripples and Hakka terraced fields. The gracefully winding lines evoke the riverside charm of the park, while the vibrant colors reflect the brilliance and traditional beauty of Hakka fabric.

 

During the two-month flowering season, visitors can take the MRT to Taipower Building Station, exit at Exit 5, turn left onto Shida Road, and walk to Shuiyuan Road to reach the park. For those wanting to explore the flower sea by bike, bicycles can be rented at the Public Waterfront Plaza in the Taipei Water Park and ridden toward the Hakka Cultural Park. Also, while enjoying the scenery, please avoid stepping on the flower carpets to allow more people to share in the beauty.
