The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and China Airlines have collaborated to launch the "Taiwan Tourism-Themed Livery Plane." Yesterday (13th), it completed its maiden flight from Taipei Songshan Airport to Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan, taking Taiwan's tourism promotion efforts to new heights. This one-of-a-kind global tourism-themed livery plane, an A330-300 aircraft, will serve major markets for tourists visiting Taiwan, including Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Mainland China. It showcases Taiwan’s six major tourism pillars—lifestyle, ecology, romance, cuisine, shopping, and culture—through vibrant cultural and creative designs. Leveraging China Airlines' extensive flight network, it aims to draw global attention and establish Taiwan as a top travel destination for tens of millions of visitors.

Liu Xilin, Deputy Director of the Tourism Bureau, stated that in 2012, Taiwan welcomed a record-high 7.31 million visitors, and in the first three quarters of this year, the number has already surpassed 5.8 million. The goal of 7.7 million for the entire year is within reach, with even potential to hit 8 million, moving toward another peak. The aim is to attract over 10 million visitors by 2016. Therefore, the heart-shaped design of The Heart of Asia, Taiwan’s tourism brand, has been painted on the plane. The "Taiwan Tourism-Themed Livery Plane" will serve as Taiwan’s best tourism ambassador and represents the hope that Taiwan’s tourism industry can soar to new heights.

Sun Hongxiang, Chairman of China Airlines, pointed out that the airline has long been committed to promoting Taiwan’s unique features. In the past, fruit and moth orchid-themed livery planes successfully brought Taiwanese agricultural products onto the world stage. This year, the airline has launched a series of cultural and creative livery planes. The first, the "Embrace Livery Plane," showcased Taiwan’s cultural creativity and the power of art. Now, the "Taiwan Tourism-Themed Livery Plane" uses the aircraft’s fuselage as a platform to promote the very best of Taiwan.

The fuselage design of the "Taiwan Tourism-Themed Livery Plane" features the phrase "Welcome to Taiwan," along with seven hearts that capture the essence of "Travel Taiwan, It’s Now." These include cloud gate dancers performing in front of the National Theater, reflecting the dazzling fireworks over Taipei 101, showcasing Taiwan’s culture and landmarks. There’s also a bicycle journey in front of the National Palace Museum, combined with Taiwan’s 3C products and the conservation icon, the Formosan black bear, highlighting diverse features such as lifestyle, shopping, and ecological experiences. Popular Taiwanese snacks like pineapple cakes, bubble tea, xiao long bao, and fresh fruits are also depicted. Additionally, lanterns from the Lantern Festival shine alongside the scenic beauty of Sun Moon Lake, inviting everyone to experience the romance of Taiwan.

The inaugural flight cabin was adorned with heart-shaped pillow covers and headrest covers featuring the Tourism Bureau’s logo. Passengers could learn about the meanings behind the seven hearts—travel, lifestyle, ecology, romance, cuisine, shopping, and culture—from the informational card in front of their seats. On the back is the work “My Taiwan / Seeing the Homeland of the Soul,” designed by Professor Lin Pansong, known as the “Mentor of Taiwan’s Design Circle.” It combines refined poster visuals with imagery of Taiwan’s island to present different facets of Taiwan’s identity, allowing passengers to explore Taiwan’s tourism and cultural creativity through aesthetic art.
