On a chilly day, nothing beats sipping a hot cup of coffee. The global coffee chain Starbucks has expanded its footprint worldwide, and now it’s taking its service to the railways—its first-ever “train branch” will open on November 21 on Swiss trains. The plan is to operate two daily train services between Geneva International Airport and St. Gallen. Passengers will be able to enjoy the Swiss scenery while sipping their familiar Starbucks beverages, seated comfortably in leather chairs at wooden tables and benches.

Starbucks has collaborated with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) to transform one carriage of the double-decker trains running between Geneva International Airport and St. Gallen into its first-ever train branch. The exterior of the carriage features the iconic Starbucks siren logo, while the interior combines light and dark brown tones to accommodate around 50 passengers. Freshly brewed coffee and a variety of light meals will be served, with the rich aroma of coffee enveloping travelers as if they were immersed in a fragrant cappuccino.

The lower level of the carriage is designated for take-away service, while the upper level is for passengers who wish to dine in. The carriage includes bar-style seating by the windows, allowing short-trip passengers to enjoy a freshly brewed coffee despite limited time onboard. There are also comfortable leather seating areas that replicate the relaxed reading and internet atmosphere of regular Starbucks stores, offering long-distance travelers a laid-back and enjoyable rail journey. Additionally, staff will be on hand to take orders, eliminating the need for passengers to move between the upper and lower levels.
