The Swords Lake New Year's Eve fireworks show lasts 610 seconds, the longest in Taiwan and incredibly romantic

On Taiwan’s largest Ferris wheel, fireworks will spell out the shape of “I 'd U,” presenting a romantic scene where the Ferris wheel declares its love to the Sky Sprinter. The Sky Sprinter responds in kind with dazzling fireworks from its 65-meter-high peak. The entire show also features heart-shaped, rose, and bouquet-shaped fireworks, all set to music, creating eight romantic firework sequences: “Heavenly Thunder and Earthly Fire,” “2014 Love You for a Lifetime,” “Blooming Hearts,” “Eyes of the God of Love,” “Starry Splendor,” “Chasing Love,” “Vows of Eternal Love,” and “Symphony of Happiness.” These sequences trace the journey of lovers—from meeting and falling in love, to deep romance, and finally pledging eternal commitment.

 

In addition to the romantic fireworks, Swords Lake World has increased its budget this year to create Taiwan’s first 610-second Love Wheel magical beam light show. First, the fireworks duration has been extended from 600 to 610 seconds, making the entire show last “ten minutes and ten seconds,” symbolizing the sweet meaning of being “perfect in every way” (10全10美). At the same time, 32 cabins on the Ferris wheel have been outfitted with spotlights, and paper flower launchers have been added to the Ferris Square. As the fireworks go off, they’re interwoven with magical beams of light. At the end, the entire park will be showered with falling paper flowers, recreating the festive atmosphere of fireworks at London’s Eye and New York’s Times Square. The number of fireworks shells launched exceeds last year’s count by nearly 10,000, and the coverage area has expanded beyond last year’s range. Centered around the Ferris wheel and Sky Sprinter, the fireworks extend outward on both sides by at least four times the previous range, forming a spectacular semi-circular mountain display.

 

Moreover, Swords Lake World’s New Year’s Eve gala breaks from past years by not featuring just famous singers for the countdown. Instead, it invites actress Lin Meixiu from the Taiwanese film “The Great Chef” to make her debut with a high-energy performance of the “Golden Scold Dance” (“金骂没ㄤ”), getting everyone in central Taiwan hyped for the countdown. The lineup of singers includes the romantic vocals of Olivia, warming the hearts of people across Taiwan, as well as powerhouse vocalists Fu Qiongyin and Lin Xinyi, who will belt out lively performances. Additionally, crystal ball stunts and fancy diabolo performances will take center stage. The entire evening show lasts 18,000 seconds. Visitors can enjoy the performances while riding the amusement rides, as Swords Lake World creates Taiwan’s most exciting New Year’s Eve event.

 

On December 31st, New Year’s Eve, the amusement rides will operate from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Daytime admission is discounted to NT$799, after 12:00 PM it’s NT$399, and after 9:00 PM it drops to NT$299. Swords Lake World’s online store has also started selling New Year’s Eve couple tickets for just NT$650 for two people, available in limited quantities for a limited time.
