【Friday Fun in Taiwan】Keelung’s Yellow Rubber Duck and New Taipei City’s Christmas Grand Finale Concert to Debut Tomorrow

The highly anticipated Yellow Rubber Duck will finally make its way to Keelung’s Ocean Plaza this Saturday. In addition, the exhibition has planned five major themed zones including the Ocean Plaza, Keelung Harbor Bureau Building, Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum, Ocean Heart Plaza, and Yongheng Cultural and Creative Park—all centered around the Yellow Rubber Duck—to give duck fans a full day of fun in Keelung.

From now until December 29, Expo Park will host a heartwarming and whimsical “Expo Christmas Fairy Tale Party” at both the Yuanshan Park area and the Expo Park Hall Plaza. Not only will there be a “Fairy Tale Christmas Town” built in Yuanshan Plaza, but on December 21, there will also be the “Joy from Sweets: A Christmas Kids’ Party,” “Panda Wish Wall,” children’s Christmas short play “Nini’s Christmas Gift,” and a “Christmas Street Performance Market.” Additionally, the Pop-up Museum inside the Expo Park will feature the “2013 Outdoor Landscape Design Competition—Lecture Event and Christmas Installation Art Exhibition,” while the Mobile Dream Pavilion in the New Life Park area will offer “Christmas Elves Visit Expo Park,” “Dream Check-in for Gifts,” and “‘Winter Melody’—Dreams Set Free.” The Expo Park Hall will also host a “Christmas Lively DIY Workshop.” These ten Christmas events invite the public to celebrate the festive season together at Expo Park.

The New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town “Joyful Night Christmas Concert” will feature headliners Jolin Tsai and Show Lo on the 21st and 22nd—marking their final public performances in Taiwan before the end of 2013. Their high-energy dance and vocal performances, which won’t be seen at any other New Year’s Eve concerts around the country, have everyone eagerly anticipating the show. This week’s lineup is also star-studded: on the 21st, MP Magic Power, Da Mouth, Amber An, Bii, Dream Girls, Flux, Huang Xiao Hu, and Jia Jia will perform; on the 22nd, the “Zhiping Choir,” an original heavenly voice group from Taitung’s Gongdong Vocational High School, will open with warm holiday songs, followed by JPM, Qiu Yuyue Band (2013 Sea Festival award-winning band), Yang Pei’an, Annie Yi, Guan Shimin, Michael Wong, and Stronghold Band. Queen of Ballads Ding Dang will perform a medley of her hits, and Show Lo promises something totally new. Both concerts will feature non-stop dance hits, bringing a more thrilling superstar experience than even New Year’s Eve.

The Taichung City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau will hold the “2013 Happy Taichung ‘Love-Filled Christmas Concert’” at 6:00 PM on December 21 at the Fuhang Outdoor Theater, along with a charity drive for gift boxes. The lineup includes Yin Zhengyang, Yili Gao Lu, and South Africa’s Wailing Soul Reggae Band. Admission is free, and the first 1,000 attendees who bring a love-filled gift box will receive a small green plant from the bureau.
