Hong Kong

The “New Year. New World. Hong Kong Countdown” event, organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and sponsored by New World Development Company Limited, will be held on December 31st this year at Victoria Harbour and several buildings across Hong Kong Island. Last year, Hong Kong was ranked No. 1 in CNN’s list of the “Top 10 Most Unique New Year’s Celebrations Around the World.” This year’s countdown will introduce many new elements, with the event being bigger than ever. Taipei

The Taipei 101 fireworks show, following the 2013 edition, has once again been designed by the internationally renowned French fireworks team Groupe F for the 2014 New Year celebration. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Taipei 101, the fireworks duration has been extended from 188 seconds to 218 seconds, with 24,000 fireworks launched—2,000 more than last year. To welcome the upcoming Year of the Horse in the lunar calendar, the fireworks will feature gold as the main color, offering a richer and more diverse palette than ever before. Edinburgh

Every year on New Year’s Eve, Edinburgh hosts the three-day “Hogmanay” festival. In Scottish, Hogmanay refers to the last day of the year, and the celebration includes torchlight processions, live band performances, outdoor movie screenings, lively carnivals, fun triathlon events, and even dog sledding races. Visitors can join over 80,000 others in front of the iconic Edinburgh Castle on New Year’s Eve to enjoy music, party with DJs, savor great food and drinks, and watch a breathtaking fireworks display as they ring in the new year together.
