New Taipei City’s Happy Christmas Town Keeps the Lights On Until Lantern Festival – Santa Gets a New Outfit for Chinese New Year

The New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town has attracted millions of visitors since its lighting ceremony and opening on November 22nd, 2013, with its beautiful decorations, light displays, and a series of over ten events including concerts, music performances, street parades, and walks. Although the originally planned 45-day event is coming to a close, many members of the public have called in expressing that they’re not ready for it to end. In response, the event organizer, the New Taipei City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau, has decided to extend the light show until February 14th.

 

During this period, aside from the three-day suspension of the main Christmas tree light show from New Year’s Eve to the second day of the Lunar New Year, the hourly shows will continue daily from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Meanwhile, Santa Claus and the flying teddy bear will take a short break to get new outfits from January 13th to 27th, and are expected to return with a fresh look on January 28th to celebrate the Lunar New Year with everyone until the dazzling Lantern Festival.

 

To coincide with the extended illumination of the Christmas tree, the “Bear Bear I GOT U” campaign on the New Taipei Travel Facebook fan page has also been extended to January 12th. Starting now, anyone who takes a photo of a bear pattern on the New Taipei Christmas tree, uploads it to the campaign page, and joins the New Taipei Travel fan page, will have a chance to win a pair of “7T” Christmas bears. A total of 200 cute bear pairs will be given away to fans.
