HelloKittyRun Crazy Road Race: Tens of Thousands Showcase Sweet Power

Hello Kitty took the lead on the morning of 1/11, guiding her best friends KIKI & LALA, Cool Penguin, and My Melody, along with 12,000 road running rookies and veterans dressed in the official red Hello Kitty race attire, on a 5-kilometer course from Taipei’s Dajia Riverside Park to the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park, to send a message of sweet power to the world.

 

Celebrities attending the event included Sasha, the event ambassador who was running her first ever race, Taiwan’s triathlon guru Liao Xiao-chun, extreme running queen Lin Fang-zhen, as well as popular online child star Qiao Qiao (Yu Huiqiao), all sweating it out at Dajia Riverside Park to showcase a sweet and confident energy.

 

Children from the Child Welfare League Foundation and families from the Lishi Shelter also joined in the fun, symbolizing that whether you’re a pro, a newbie, a child, or a family, the goal was to sweat it out and spread this energy to the world. This global premiere also attracted heads of Sanrio branches from eight countries around the world to observe and learn.

In addition to giveaways before the race, the organizers put great effort into the course and venue design. Choosing Dajia Riverside Park and the Children’s Amusement Park itself symbolizes the setting of Hello Kitty’s hometown along the banks of the River Thames; the giant Hello Kitty balloon arches at the start and finish lines, along with 10 uniquely designed Hello Kitty Q&A cutouts along the route that share little facts about Hello Kitty, all served to cheer on the hardworking runners. Cheer squads at every kilometer also expressed the determination to persevere and give your all through dance and music.
